Quickly subdivide edges to get them to match so using the Grid Fill tool is easier and more versatile!
Instructions for using the "Grid Fill Helper" Blender Addon:
- Install the Addon: a. Open Blender and navigate to Edit > Preferences. b. In the Preferences window, click on the "Add-ons" tab. c. Click on the "Install" button and locate the Python script file for the addon. Once installed, enable the addon by checking the checkbox next to its name.
- Access the Addon:The addon will be available in the 3D Viewport's sidebar. To access it:a. Open a 3D Viewport. b. Press the 'N' key to open the sidebar if it is not already open. c. Locate the "Grid Fill Helper" tab in the sidebar.
- Use the Addon: The addon provides three custom vertex operation tools: Fetch Vertices, Subdivide, and Grid Fill. a. Fetch Vertices: This tool calculates the number of selected vertices and stores the value minus 2.
- Enter Edit Mode in the 3D Viewport.
- Select the vertices you want to fetch.
- Click on the "Fetch Vertices" button in the Vertex Ops tab.
- Select the mesh elements you want to subdivide. This works in both Vertex Select and Edge Select Mode.
- Click on the "Subdivide" button in the Vertex Ops tab.
- Select the vertices you want to fill.
- Click on the "Grid Fill" button in the Vertex Ops tab.
- Adjust the Stored Vertices value: You can manually adjust the stored value used in the Subdivide tool by modifying the "Stored Value" property in the Vertex Ops tab. This can be useful if you want to control the number of cuts directly.
- Uninstall the Addon: If you wish to uninstall the addon, follow these steps: a. Open Blender and navigate to Edit > Preferences. b. In the Preferences window, click on the "Add-ons" tab. c. Locate the "Custom Vertex Operations" addon in the list. d. Click on the "Remove" button to uninstall the addon.
